The Book Review

Good news today, just like yesterday. I posted The Mundane Blues to Bandcamp. All you have to do is click on The Glen Livers icon on my blog and blamo. It’s magic.
I finished Keith Richard’s book. I enjoyed it, however, some have said that it’s boring for non- musicians. It’s Keith Richard’s bragging book really. He deserves to brag. He’s the best five-string guitar player in the world. How many people can say that, just one, Keith Richard’s, it’s a wonder more guitar players haven’t copied his style. It takes a special person to give up a string.
I’m back to reading Moby Dick. I know it’s a classic, but cut to the chase for god sakes. I have Deep in a Dream, Chet Bakers biography on stand by just in case Melville takes another side journey. I’m also reading a book on string theory, but I keep that book in the crapper, I have a long history of keeping a book in the crapper, a special book for special occasions.
            Today’s theme.. string..

Today's News

I was thinking about creating my own news today. I’m tired of the old news. The media is a slow death. It plugs away at me. It’s my curiosity that keeps me active. I want to know wants going on. I listen to the radio, and bombard myself with my own opinions and rational. It’s exhausting. It feels good to turn things off. It use to be, you’d turn on to be hip, and cool, but now a days, you need to turn off just to stay healthy.
The news for today is…good news, all your worries are over...

Dude-Bro

The cover band isn’t going so well. It’s a comedy of errors, but nobody’s laughing. We’ve been rehearsing for some time now, and we seem to be getting progressively worse. I think it has something to do with lack of commitment.
We have young Armenian kid playing guitar. We call him “Dude-bro.” He’s a real nice kid, but he has two jobs and says he doesn’t have time to practice.
“What time do you get off work?” I asked him.
            “Six, “ he answered.
“You have plenty of time to practice,” I said.
I sense resistance. Meanwhile, I have the drummer on my back to get rid of him, but the drummer doesn’t practice either. I practice, but I practice guitar more than bass. The singer forgets his part ever now and then, but we all do. I’m the one trying to keep things together, but that’s one of my weaknesses in life. I’m a nice guy, but I cut sharp when frustrated. It’s not a good combination for leadership.
Another problem we have is scheduling. The drummer works swing shift. Dude-bro, works weekdays, and weekends, between the two of them we’re left with Saturday and Sunday two rehearse. I’m not sure what we would do if we landed a gig.
